Donate for the opera project “Going for Gold” - Your donations will be doubled
The Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation (UK) will lend its support to the project “Going for Gold” by Birmingham Opera Company that is nominated for the FEDORA Education Prize 2020.
As of today a matching donations appeal will be launched on the FEDORA Platform doubling the donations of anyone who supports this project until October 30th.
Since 1987 Birmingham Opera Company has been making world-class opera, all in the home city of Birmingham. Now, they are Going for Gold by staging Wagner’s RhineGold with an international cast and local volunteer performers led by Artistic Director Graham Vick and newly appointed Music Director Alpesh Chauhan in August 2021.
- The programme will reach 10,000 people of all ages and backgrounds across the city of Birmingham, through +100 free events and hundreds of hours of volunteer training.
- 99% will encounter the power of opera for the first time.
- 40% of audiences will be under 35 years old.
- The work will launch the careers of 50 artists on the world’s stage. Professional singers will receive one-to-one coaching, many will sing for the first time.
